IU Kelley seems like the obvious choice. It has great relationships with recruiters and if you get into the IB workshop you are almost gauranteed a position. Nevertheless, you'll be with other smart people aiming for good positions. For the cheaper price, I am not sure why you would go to UCSD unless you like the campus/vibe a ton more. $80k per year is also significant. You can also transfer from IU to another semi-target or target if you don't like it.
What would be reasonable targets/semi-targets to transfer? Is it possible to transfer to Ross/Stern/Haas or better? I thought the acceptance rates for transfers were very low.
I'm not exactly sure. You would probably have a better chance transferring to publics like UC Berkeley, UVA, and UNC, but they all have upper-divisional schools that you apply to as sophomores to enter junior year, and they all have pre-reqs to apply so I am not sure if that is feasible. UC Berkeley has somewhere around 25% acceptance rate for transfers, but getting into Haas is much much more difficult. Nevertheless, UC Berkeley offers good prospects even if you don't get into Haas. On campus recruiting is similar and hundreds of students studying econ get similar jobs.
I really can't think of a good reason to transfer from Kelley if you get into the IBW and even if you don't, it is cheaper than a lot of the other semi-targets that are feasible to get into. BC and UT Austin you have a solid chance, but they don't have much of a leg up. Getting into schools like Georgetown, and obviously Stern, Ross, Wharton, would be pretty difficult, but worth transferring to. Can't speak much about Carnegie Mellon, Notre Dame, or Emory.
.
Definitely kelly and work to get in the IBW as it places very well from what I’ve heard. Did you have to petition for direct admit with a 3.6? What was that process like?
It was just writing another essay about why you should get in. My weighted GPA was pretty close to the 3.8 needed and my SAT was above. I heard most kids who petition get in.
IU IB workshop. Handsdown. Go by placement records and street reputation. Don’t put too much weight on ranking.
