Monty09 has a mental block.... anyone else have this happen

Took gmat some time ago and mid 600s... not bad not great but good enough i think to get into the schools I am trageting.. retaking to try to get a higher score and take a practice exam.... mid 400s..WTF....this happen to anyone else? it is playing major tricks on my focus now....

help your boy get back on track....

Dude, when I was in high school, I took the SAT the first time and got the same score as a mouth breathing knuckle dragger. Totally embarrassed. I went to the beach with my buddies for the weekend, came back and studied for a few days after taking a week off and nailed it. Time off can definitely help. Obviously the SAT is nothing compared to the GMAT but still applies.

Yeah take some time off man, same thing happened to me 2 weeks ago and I was so pissed that I couldn't focus on studying after that. Few days off took care of it.

Back to the original question...

I just took the GMAT back in late August, so I'm pretty fresh on all of this stuff.

A score that low from someone already in the industry signals a bad practice exam. Which company / version did you use? ManhattanGMAT (6 free with the purchase of any MGMAT book) and the official GMATPrep exams (available for free after you schedule a date from mba.com) are the only ones that give you a fairly accurate practice score.

do you really need to retake? Sweating GMAT scores is for people with weak resumes. Mid 600s should be ok given your resume (If I recall: college sports, many years of trading, volunteering). Here’s the real question: what business job is less boring than trading? If you’re bored now, wait till you get to banking or consulting.
