MSF To IB W/O IB experience

Do I have a realistic shot at breaking into IB from an MSF program? I prefer Vandy since I'm pretty sure I can get a waiver for the GMAT.

Rising Senior at a non-target (top 70 US), double majoring in Econ & Math with a 3.97 GPA. Interning now at a B4 in their deals platform doing data analytics for M&A due diligence, one project so far for a MF PE client. Interned last summer at same B4 doing management consulting and did a bull-shit internship at a non-profit org after my freshman year. No experience in IB, PE, or VC. Minimal EC's (member of university's investment club).

Not in IB, but I went through a similar MSF program. MSFs are what you make of them.

I did two internships during the program and networked and I ended up getting the offers I wanted. Some people in my class just coasted through the program thinking they would have offers lining up, but struggled to find jobs come graduation.

Vandy is a great program with a great alumni base. Network and snag an internship or two during the program and you’ll be just fine. Just my 2c

I did the Vandy MSF class of '21 and know many others who went in without IB experience. I landed a strong IB offer, and lot of us got MM and a few bulge offers, looks like class of '22 did pretty decent in the MM and with strong boutiques. You'll make your life easier if you intern for any no name boutique just so you have the bullet on your resume. It's doable. Need to be focused and determined, though- it's a major hustle because you have the brand name and network but not the clear recruiting pipelines as an MBA or a target undergrad. Need to stand out from the crowd.
