Resume GPA - Fixing up my resume
I am fixing up my resume and graduating this month. My first year marks were horrible (i was 17 going into uni and not enthusiastic about science, which was what i was studying at the time and had no idea what i wanted to do with my life). I switched into finance and started to really enjoy it. My question is about what GPA to put on my resume. I have 13/20 credits in my 3rd and 4th year (i fast tracked the business program to finish on time) and want to put my senior years GPA on my resume opposed to my cumulative, for two reasons 1) its not pulled down from my first year marks 2) it contains all business/eco/stats courses. My cumulative GPA is a 3.35 and my gpa for my 3rd and 4th year is a 3.9, so its a big difference.
has anyone come across a situation like this before? will everyone looking at my resume wonder why the hell i only put my upper years GPA or will they just over look it?
thanks
The best way would be to list it as GPA: 3.35 cumulative (3.9 major)
If you would rather omit the cumulative, make sure to state that it's your major GPA.
Yes, of course people will wonder if you omit 1st year's grades. I mean seriously, since when did freshman year not count as part of a person's educational history?
Sounds like you've got good reasoning for explaining the difference between the two.
I'd consider retaking a few of your lowest grade classes.
