Rice Essay Question

would a politically charged essay be a mistake for a Rice University essay? It specifically targets Lobbyists...the only problem is that it's the only real world relavant super power I could think of. Otherwise, i don't want a super power and I'd be making it up...what do you think?

That sounds really lame man, I'd go with something else. It really doesn't seem to show any creativity either. It says any superpower of your choice. Would you want to read an essay over superpowers and hear about something thats real-world relevant? Just my .02

It actually asks what superpower we would want to fulfill what goal. My bad, I described it poorly

Cartwright:
As a general rule, I would avoid politically charged essays. You never know who's going to be on the other end.

The essays is essentially arguing that I would use my chosen power to get rid of lobbysists. Still dangerous grounds?

If it's questionable, I wouldn't even consider it a topic.

Also, A superpower to get rid of lobbyist.... :( Any superpower you can name can get rid of lobbyist. Having a gun can get rid of lobbyist(egregious example I know). All I'm saying if you don't need a superpower to get rid of lobbyist. Think outside the box

No offense, but that is not very strong. Sounds like an idealistic high schooler. I would go the altruistic route, but not something so polarizing. E.g. saving starving people is idealistic...but not in psycho huffpost (or fox news) commenter way.

Make it altruistic, specific (not world peace but...x specific issue), and creative.

Only caveat is that they word it as a "goal". So whatever you write about needs to be in line with your past experiences and/or intended post-grad pursuits. If you've never done a damn thing for children in the Congo, it does make much sense to say that this is a "goal" that you would use a super power to solve.

The only way I would even attempt your idea is if you have worked as a lobbyist.
