Rotterdam School of Management (RSM)
Hi guys,
I've been browsing the Internet here and there searching for info about this uni and its placement. I haven't found a lot of info tho. ( the post were a bit old i.e. 2014)
What is the reputation and the value of this uni? Is the admission criteria(first come, first served) a signal of the poor value of this uni?
How is in term of placement?
thanks!
Depends what you do. If you do CEMS it leverages the entire network and is good. In Europe it's a semi-target and specifically in the Netherlands and Belgium it's a target.
I'll be doing the finance and investment program
As above then, it'll place quite well in Europe and very well in the Benelux region
How does it place in London Investment Banking?
Compared to Stockholm/Boconi?
Study in Rotterdam school of Management (Originally Posted: 07/16/2010)
I was wondering if studying at RSM would be a good experience. I read many good stories displayed on RSM on the website Business Because . One is from a student at the Full Time MBA who had appreciated a lot his study. He answered to a Q&A. http://www.businessbecause.com/business-student-q-and-a/rotterdam-schoo…
Well what i learnt from this story is that RSM deliver a tough and a great MBA. Many oppurtunities are offered to you after. Furthermore, it is one of the cheapest MBA. The city of Rotterdam gathers plenty of international companies, so RSM has a strong network!
Tell me what you think of doing an MBA in RSM? Do you think it is worth the cost?
thank you for your advice :)
You should give Rotterdam a shot. Far as I've heard, its well worth it. In fact, in the same BusinessBecause website, I saw this story about a guy and his wife, who travelled from the US, to the Netherlands to do an MBA. You can check out the story at http://www.businessbecause.com/business-school-news/an-american-at-rott…. Seems like a good one.
RSM has been falling in all of the rankings (e.g., The Financial Times, The Economist) and is no longer, despite what the school advertises, a top 10 European MBA programme. Through mismanagement and bad leadership, it is now fast becoming a 3rd-tier programme. Apart from the dramatic falls in the rankings, the average post-MBA salary has decreased by 33% in the past 5 years from $104k in 2006 to $70k in 2011, and is now less than the salary many people earn pre-MBA. The career centre hardly functions, apart from reporting employment figures for the rankings, and you will not see many of the companies advertised in the marketing brochures actually coming to recruit RSM students -- top consulting firms and banks do not target RSM. And, after graduation, the career centre ceases to do anything for the graduates, nor is there a strong alumni network. I know several people who graduated from there in the past few years who are either unemployed or who had to go back and work for the same company at around the same salary they had before the MBA. In fact, considering the debt and loss of income, the RSM MBA has ruined the lives of some people I know.
Double Degree Program at RSM (Originally Posted: 02/01/2012)
I'm currently at my 1 year at the MSc in accounting, financial management and control in Bocconi and I'm now applying for a double degree program with Rotterdam school of management for the MSc in Finance and Investments. Do you think that this kind of program on my CV could give me an extra kick for an IB internship next year? More in general would you advise me to do it or is it a waste of time?
Thank you very much!
Bocconi & RSM are both highly appreciated in the city. I think it doesn't really matter if you go the dual track or not. Go the way you feel better with, an additional year abroad before starting to work can be really nice.
