Semi-Target?
Is it worth it to go to a semi-target (Vanderbilt/Emory) and pay the difference over a state school (UF) if I want to go into IB?

Plenty of kids do IB from UF. You’ll also have a lot of fun there.
I would maybe consider Vandy depending on how bad the financial burden is. Vandy is a great school to have on your resume and Nashville is cool.
You could not pay me to go to Emory. Would not go there, although I am sure some kids enjoy it. Definitely not worth the price tag over UF for IB.

If you’re a decent candidate you’ll get in from UF. And it’s a blast. Agree with above
I went to vandy and had an absolutely awesome time. It’s a one of a kind elite institution situated in one of the biggest party destinations in the country (maybe just region). You’ll have plenty of opportunities to explore both academic and personal interests outside of IB.
But - if you’re dead set on IB, not sure full tuition is worth it over UF which seems to have great IB recruiting for a state school.
Emory/Vandy would definitely make it easier to get into IB and consulting. That said definitely not full tuition vs 0 tuition. I would pay some premium to go to Emory/Vandy but not an insane amount more. My parents made about 400k combined and I would probably pay 15-20k more per year to go to Vandy/emory beyond which I would take UF. Evaluate your price sensitivity, college experience, how much you want IB etc
For IB Emory>Vandy>>UF
If cost is the biggest concern then UF, if getting into IB is the biggest concern them Emory. If college Experience is the biggest concern then Vandy. However, Vandy and Emory are much harder to get into than UF so those two schools might make the decision for you.
Thanks for your input guys - if I am being honest, I will probably end up at Vandy because I love it there and I know it’ll be great for placing me in finance. I got a little money there, so cost shouldn’t be too bad. (For reference Ive been accepted by vandy and Emory, with my grades should get into UF)
Tbh Vandy is not that good at IB. It’s better than UF but not worlds apart. Emory is actually pretty good at IB(slightly better than Vandy) but not tons of money over UF.
