Should I transfer to SMU

Hey y’all, I am wondering what y’all’s opinions are on transferring to SMU. I am a current finance student at TAMU. This college is not what I thought it would be and I am ready to leave. However, before I make this big decision I want to make sure that SMU will be more beneficial for my career then TAMU. I am really interested in IB. I just finished my freshman year and would be starting SMU as a sophomore. Thanks!

I left A&M after my freshman year but went to UT. I’ve kept tabs on placement from my class and honestly it wasn’t bad at all. Mostly Houston, but it’s majority Houston placement at UT too (although UT probably sends 30-40+ more kids to NYC than A&M does). Horizons and AOWS seem to be good programs that will set you up well, assuming you can get in.

If you’re unhappy with attending A&M for reasons beyond recruiting I recommend you leave asap. I didn’t like my time there personally and am beyond happy I left.

SMU has good IB placement through the Alternative Asset Management program. Pretty much the opposite of A&M in terms of culture and is very greek driven for undergrad life, so if that's something you're in to then it could be a good experience for you. There was a recent thread that discussed SMU and TCU placements that may have some helpful information for you.
