Summer 2010
I am a career switcher heading back to B-School this fall. My goal is to get into investment banking at a BB. I was just wondering if people had opinions on how they think business school recruiting will be for the summer of 2010. I know it is a long way away and tough to speculate, but just wondered what people thought. In general at the MBA/Associate level will banks look for people with prior IB experience to fill their summer classes?
In the words of Dwight Schrute: "Good, not great."
I think this year the banks will start off looking for those with previous banking/other relevant experience, but if you attend a top school, your resume should still be, at the least, glanced at. I think this year banks again will be more selective than in the past few years, but I think recruiting for this coming year will be stronger than this previous bomb year. Best strategy here is just to keep networking both in the banks and at b school, make sure your resume is spot on and get it into the right hands. You may get an interview everywhere, but you should be able to land a couple (depending on how well you networked, how wide of an application net you cast out there, and, of course, what school you are attending - Target vs Non).

Thanks, just wanted to say I follow this board quite a bit and you always seem to reply with useful non-condescending information. Thanks.
