Undergrad Selection
I have a 1340 SAT and a 3.9 GPA, and I am a senior in high school looking to pursue IB as a career path. I have been accepted into SMU, TCU, UTK, Sewanee, and Baylor, as well as a few others, but they are irrelevant. I have received an inheritance of 300 thousand to fund my college education and want to make the best of it. While SMU has incredible IB placement, it would put me about 20-40k in debt, whereas TCU would be right at the cusp of my budget and was recently ranked 25th by Poets and Quants. Sewanee, on the other hand, would only be around 160k total, but it is a strange place, and I may miss out on a typical college experience and does not seem to be as widely known. Any suggestions or help? I have a limited time to decide and am really struggling to find my place.
Go into the best school that you can get into. If IB is the goal, you're really looking for the placement that it can offer and the alumni networks that you can gain from going to that school.
If Sewanee (I've never heard of this school fwiw) is not going to give you that then you might not be able to get IB. It's possible but it's just much harder.
SMU
Go to SMU, will be worth it.
