Wharton EMBA vs 2nd Tier
One of my coworkers has been involved in the emba program at Wharton for the past year and I was just curious to get a feel for peoples thoughts or opinions on it vs going to a tier 2 b school. obviously you do not have access to OCR the first year but after then you have access to all the other jobs and the like that Wharton students have, so if you have a job you want to continue to work at for the duration of the program you can then aim to get into the same pool as everyone else at Wharton afterwards plus all the same networking lifelong learning etc. Or is it still a throwaway degree as a part time program in peoples eyes?
My understanding of executive MBA programs is that it's not well suited if you want to make a career switch. A lot of the people are there on the companies' dime and go back with their newly acquired skillset. Wharton EMBA do have access to recrruiting your 2nd year, but from what i've heard it's very tough for them to get good jobs over the regular MBA students.
Bump. Any new insights on this topic?
The EMBAs have "access" to recruiting resources, but banks usually weed them out so it becomes extremely tough to make a career switch. Some will allow the EMBAs to go through the recruiting process, but they have to be notcieably better than the regular MBAs and there are very few of those banks.
So if you want to make a career switch, I would not do the EMBA program.
