Which school is better for investment banking?

Hi all, I was wondering whether University of Michigan LSA Economics degree or University of Indiana Kelley Finance degree while also in the investment banking workshop is better for investment banking? Thanks everyone!

As a Kelley student, go UMich. After you factor in the competitiveness of the IBW, UMich is the pretty clear winner here.

I don’t know too much about non-Ross UMich placement so I can’t give a definitive answer. If you get into the IBW, you’ll probably place somewhere, but it’s definitely not guaranteed.

Another thing to note: I just checked on internal Ross transfers, and they’re definitely doable. They accepted 101/482, meaning you’ll probably have a better shot at Ross than the IBW.

Go Mich 100%. Much better outright brand and alumni network. Also more fun (ann arbor is awesome, we don't suck at sports, etc.). Know plenty of Econ kids joining EB/BB's for SA and FT. Tons of opportunities to get involved with clubs as an Econ major and you will be able to network pretty easily (most alums dgaf if you're in Ross).

Also, don’t bank on a Ross transfer as an Econ major.
