WUSTL or Rice?
Got offer from WUSTL (Olin) and Rice (Jones). If I target finance after MBA education, which one is better? If I target consulting, which one is better?
Appreciate your comments.

Career Resources
I would say Rice for finance (just my opinion), they are pretty strong and having so many banks and F500 companies in the same city helps. Not sure about Olin, but consulting recruiting sucks at Rice.
I'll echo hookem. A lot more people at WUSTL (even percentagewise) go into consulting over those at Rice. However, for finance I'd take Rice. They're both regional and while WUSTL gets some love (i.e. I think Stifel Nicolaus recruits there) Houston just has the bigger market.
rice
I have several friends who go to WUSTL majoring in Economics. They are smart, with SAT 2300+, but they could hardly land any internship in their junior year and ended up applying to law school.
The Jones School has one of the best MBA finance programs out there... so Rice.
Is it okay to say Vandy, Emory, WashU, Rice, USC and Georgetown are all very similar regional schools? Or would you put some of these schools above the others? (Not blindly going by rankings)
depending on location the ranking would change. to work in houston, atl, d.c, st l would all have different rankings
Thank you all for your valuable input.
Seems that Rice is a better choice for finance and worse for consulting....
Rice makes the most sense for Finance- it's located in Houston, the 3/4th biggest financial center in the USA thanks to the energy industry and all the Houston BB's recruit there. WUSTL does not have a good placement record for IB, it's good for consulting and industry
Both great schools! Congrats!
Another thing to note is that WashU has a way larger alumni base than Rice, which is sometimes considered a huge advantage. Also, Rice is ranked pretty low because of the fact that it was accredited not too long ago.
exactly. both have pros and cons.
now, I take Rice over WashU. Houston is much better than St Louis. though Rice ranks low, but it may will move up gradually.
So does that mean you have made up your mind? :)
