Thanks WSO - Valuable resource

Just wanted to post a thanks to WSO and everyone that contributes and helps make this site such a valuable resource. I recently landed an analyst position at a small boutique in their FIG group (keeping location out for anonymity) after 6 months of unemployment/internships post-graduation. I went through quite a few interviews and tons of cold calls/emails to get here, but to all those people out there that are still looking, just keep working hard at it and you can make it happen. Intern, read up on the industry, network, learn on your own

Side note: I highly recommend the WSO IB prep pack, its a great way to get up to speed quickly for interviews, phone chats, etc. http://www.wallstreetoasis.com/guide/investment-banking-interview-prep-…) and do whatever else you can to give yourself an edge. Coming from a non-target and not having many people in my network that are very knowledgable about banking, WSO was a major reason for my success. The people here have great experience and knowledge and it should not be wasted.

I'm very happy where i'm at right now and will hopefully be able to lateral in a year or two to move along on the path towards my ultimate goal of moving to the buyside. For now I am focused on learning as much as possible and making the best of this opportunity.

Don't need to bore you with a long post about my story. Simply wanted to say thank you and I look forward to contributing more as I become more experienced and knowledgable within my industry.

Mod Note (Andy): Throwback Thursday, this was originally posted Sept 2013.

Post the story! It will definitely help out some people on here. The long and boring is the best... that's what it takes to get a job.

Congrats, sir.

You mentioned you interned post-graduation? Was the internship/s in IBD as well? And were you an unpaid intern until you finally got the FT gig?
