Baruch College vs Texas Schools
I am currently a sophomore at Texas Christian University and want to work in S & T after I graduate. I have been told by some people that if I want even a small chance to working on the Street I need to transfer. I have heard some good things about Baruch's Finance program but mostly its not very known nationally. Any one have an opinion on where I can get a better education as well as job opportunity and networking?
You don't "need" to transfer. There are plenty of people who have come out of TCU and gone to work in S&T. Don't the Bass Brothers hire out of TCU?
For banking I would say you are more than fine at TCU, but assuming you are talking sell-side, S&T is a little harder to come by in Texas.
ya i am definitely trying to get on the sell side. but I imagine would not complain working for pension funds or mutual funds either. About Bass Brothers, I have not seen anything from them. Mostly we get more accounting firms, Luther KIng, IMG, is big at recruiting from here.
Honestly, Im not really looking to stay in Texas unless I land some energy trading job, that is why I am open to transferring to somewhere with a strong network and academics

Don't know much about TCU, so I cannot say that it is a necessity for you to transfer.
Baruch will provide you with a strong network and opportunities if you know where to look. While it is a non-target, it is quite common for TOP Baruch students to land FO roles. In the end, I think it will still be an uphill battle.
Didn't HFF go to TCU
