Crude Oil vs Natural Gas Futures
Hi, I’ve been working as a data analyst for some time and now want to transition to trading. I’m currently doing an evaluation with an online trading firm and it’s been going very well.
I have been trading Crude Oil futures since there is a quite a bit of volume, however I am thinking of trading Natural Gas futures.
Any recommendations in terms of which futures market to trader? I am primarily trading based of off volume and not the news as it is a lot easier that way for me.
Thank you in advance!
Which one backtests better for your strategy? Seems like the objective way to make a choice. But from a structural angle I would guess natural gas is worse because you will get multiple weather forecasts a day that change price outside of what volumes you look at. There aren’t going to be as many news events in oil and they usually don’t cause as large swings percentage wise, which could make your results less volatile than they would be in gas.
