Houston Trader Help

Hey guys, I don't post much here but I'm always reading, i realize that is a mistake now that I have no bananas lol.

Anyways, I am looking for advice from guys like UrbanGuerilla and monty09 but I can't PM these guys without a certain number of bananas. So I apologize to anyone who will tell me just to PM them and not to start a new thread.

I want to break into trading or at least go in that direction. I live in Houston and recently graduated with a decent (3.8) GPA from UofH. I studied Economics and Finance and am having trouble finding a job in the energy industry. I want to eventually trade so I would love a scheduling job but any advice any of you guys have would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Reach out to alumni who are in the field using LinkedIn. See if they will mt for coffee. From that high level person, then see if they will give some of their contacts and provide help getting a gig. You have a great GPA. You just need more people to know who you are and what you're trying to do.

Yes. You reach out to them and say I see that you are working at xyz. Ask for their advice on breaking into energy trading. Ask if they could meet for coffee at a time that is convenient for them. At the meeting, ask for help on getting in. Be frank and let them know you're trying to find an entry level role in oil, nat gas, LPG, etc. trading. or whatever area of energy that you care about. If they can't lead you to their company, they may know people at other companies. In fact, odds are they will. Ask if you can use their name when you call on the other people that they know and go from there.
