IB to S&T (Sales Desk)?

Long-story short, have had 3-years of IB coverage group experience right out of school (3rd year analyst right before A2A this summer) but am looking at public market and macro-oriented roles as an exit (not interested in PE/corp dev or modeling).

S&T on the sales side has grabbed my interest but wondering is this a feasible transition? As in, would I essentially be "starting over" as a first-year analyst in S&T or would I come in with a slightly more senior title? If I would have to "start over" and essentially not receive credit for the IB analyst stint, would looking at other roles be better?

I'm not opposed to it either way just trying to understand my options and career paths available.

Thank you all and happy to chat further with anyone!

Been networking heavily internally. Getting some traction finally

You would essentially be starting over as M&A skills are transferable to S&T, but not TOO much. Generally desks really value having that hands-dirty experience and getting accustomed to their processes, so more commonly than not they’d prefer to raise up an intern or a 1st year analyst
