Quant Trader Coding Proficiency
Hi all,
I am curious as to how proficient an individual needs to be for a quant trading role? When I say quant trader, not fully algo but someone creating models and executing trades. Say an entry level trader at top prop shops (JS, Optiver, IMC etc.)
While I know python is needed, how much is needed? Does one need to be software engineer level and be fluent in OOP theory? Or does one just need to know the basic syntax and basics for libraries such as pandas, numpy, pyplot etc.? An example of my perspective of basics, would be plotting a bar graph in pyplot. Also, what kind of interview questions in relation to coding do most prop/buy shops have? Are these questions solvable for someone with 6 months of coding experience?
Thanks in advance!
