Slaes and Trading: Gleacher & Co. vs. Cantor Fitzgerald and other boutiquish firms
Rankings aside, I don't think enough light is shed on mid bracket and boutique firms with regards to compensation, prestige, start-up help(building a book) etc. Do you only measure these firms by their investment banks in terms of supporting their sales and trading. Are there any pros these firms bring that BB's don't? In terms of hours and stress, I understand its a little better. I've interned at both and am crossing my fingers for FT offers from each, but was hoping to get the streets perspective. I've never worked for a BB, but do understand the benefits a MS or JPM bring to the table. Discuss......
I think it depends. It is going to be a lot easier in inst sales at say a JPM than a mid market firm. Customers want and need you at JPM, not so much at a smaller firm. The value proposition is easier and much more clear. Isn't Cantor very focused on government securities?
I don't think Gleacher & Co. has a Slaes and Trading arm. You must be thinking about Smorgan Smanley. Smorgan Smanley definitely has a Slaes and Trading arm.
What's with the pokemon trolls around here? You aren't funny, you're annoying.
Gleacher does. so does evercore...
products are often limited, usually just cash equities and bonds.
gleacher's major revenue last q was from s&t. Don't reply if you really have no idea what your talking about.
Gleacher's S&T group was acquired when they bought Broadpoint. They are mostly a fixed income shop from my understanding
