S&T Apprenticeship Exit Opportunities
I recently received an offer for a FO S&T apprenticeship at a mid tier bank (think Standard Chartered/HSBC/RBS) that's focused on the Asian and African markets.
It will be 5 years long and at the end of it I'll have a bsc in Finance from a semi target UK university, as well as the CFA L1.
The pay is great and it's better than going to uni because I didn't do maths at A-Level, meaning LSE etc is off the table despite decent grades.
However I'm wondering what my exit opportunities could be in this role because obviously it's not a BB and 5 years working in Asian/African markets is quite specialised early in your career.
Could I possibly move to the buy side from this role? I love politics and economics and I'm very interested in the operations of global hedge funds. I'm not sure if working at A) a mid tier bank B) mostly emerging markets, might harm this goal in some sense.
If anyone had any recommendations of desks that are particularly interesting / have HF potential that would be appreciated too.
