Carried interest contingent upon staying with the firm?
New to VC here, just started a gig in Corporate VC in the East Coast.
Carried interest. I don't get to have that and I want to know more.
If I join a financial VC one day that gives me carried interest, then what happens if I stay there for like 3 years and then that firm subsequently? Do I lose all the carried interest, or do I keep what have vested over that 3 year period?
Would love any real answers, please. Thank you!
I'm not a lawyer so be sure to read the fine print in your offer letter/carry agreement + LPA, but I imagine you should be able to keep your vested carry. That's the whole point of vesting.
