ECM -> VC?
I know that a lot of VC associates come in from MBB, BB tech groups, or from the actual tech industry - although the recruiting process seems less formal/formulaic than PE. However, I was wondering if anybody has any experience with someone transitioning from an ECM role that focuses on tech companies at a BB (JPM/BAML/Citi/CS) to VC. If so, how common/realistic of an exit would this be?
Very rare / difficult. You don't see a lot of fmr ECM analysts in any principal investing jobs. It's hard enough to get a VC job out of a top industry group, e.g. Tech, healthcare.
