Boutique IB Summer Analyst to BB Full-Time?
Hi, this is my first post here:
I'm a junior studying Economics at a non-target school. Over the past summer, I was able to intern as a PE research analyst at an asset management firm ($40B+ AUM). I used that experience to land my next summer analyst internship at a regional boutique bank that typically does $30-60M deals and occasionally closes $120M+ deals. I am wondering if you all could give me advice on which path will most likely get me to a bulge bracket over the next 2-3 years:
- Stay at the boutique bank and aim for a FT offer. Work there for 1-2 years and then try for a BB?
- Recruit now and aim for a FT BB for next summer?
- Stay a 5th year and aim for a SA BB for next summer?
Thanks y'all,
Baby Chimp
2, with the assumption that it may not work out. In that case, focus on #1.
I did a boutique IB internship summer 2018 and landed at a lower BB for FT 2019 so it's definitely possible.
Not OP but how much of a boutique, regionally known or no-name?
Small enough that it's hit or miss if bankers in my city know about them
