EMORY PLACEMENT & INFO
Hi guys, I'm a rising freshman at Emory with a few questions.
-
What are the 'top' finance clubs at Emory?
-
How is IB placement like at Emory, and is there any buyside placement (any of PE, PC, HF, GE, VC, AM)
Responses are much appreciated!
Is this a bait post? Emory is small enough to where everyone knows the main finance clubs.
I'm a rising freshman so haven't even started at Emory yet. Just wanted to get an idea of overall buyside placement and clubs to aim for.
1. You'll see on campus.
2. Target for every EB and most BBs.
3. Pretty much guaranteed ATL İB offer which is nice.
4. Few buyside. Dont expect it at all.
Thanks for the response! By all EBs, do Evercore & Centerview also take a lot of Emory kids?
Also wdym by guaranteed Atlanta IB offer, is it that easy for Emory students to place in Atlanta IB? Also, are the Atlanta IBs mainly regional offices of BBs and EBs or is it mostly middle market banks?
Evercore and Centerview take kids every year. Also there is buyside placement obviously hard but it happens consistently. In class of 2024-2026 I know there's Bain Cap, Blackstone, KKR, Vista equity, Carlyle and a bunch of middle markets here and there in Atlanta or NYC. Blackstone takes 2 or 3 every year
Be open to any bank, dont just focus on Evercore and CVP but yes those two take a good share of Emory kids, especially CVP. Also yes, you're basically guaranteed at least 1 ATL ib offer as long as you try even a little bit. These are mostly MM tho. Truist, Regions, Citizens, HL, Blair come to mind. GUGG has an EB office in ATL but it takes like 3 kids and Emory doesnt send any there. Recruit for NYC and ATL(if you're interested), I was interested and ended up getting an offer at Blair ATl and and EB in NYC. Good luck enjoy summer before college, dont stess right now.

All in all maybe 8-10 kids a year. Definitely hard but if you're a top 15% finance student then you have a shot(not saying you will get it but you'll be competitive)
Gotcha. If you are on top of recruiting, which you clearly are (I’d chill out a little, HS student is kinda early to stress about this), pretty much every role is within reach. Top buyside roles are possible, but unlikely.
Got it, thanks man!
Emory is good for EBs and most BBs. The top kids who take recruiting seriously will place in those. Many kids who don’t will place at MM shops or regional offices. Def not a target but still a good semi target. As for buyside roles, there’s a handful of kids who place each year in PE or HF but not a ton at all, pretty random across the board.
For clubs, GIMG and Atlas are the big two but there are several more that place better each year. Just look for the Goizueta clubs and look at the upperclassmen and what jobs they have landed.
Aside from clubs, the frats are what give you the biggest leverage so look into those as well
